A sharp look into the nature of familial and romantic relationships, Duplicity starts in 2019, when Danielle invites her mother, Marianne and her mother’s partner, Steven, to say goodbye to her late father’s house. The play unfolds through a series of vignettes as the years spin backwards and a complex web of secrets and betrayals between the trio emerges, telling the story of Daniella discovering that her mother has been having an affair with her late father’s best friend. Betrayal is only the beginning for these three duplicitous characters, whose secrets threaten to uproot the relationship between lovers, between mother and daughter and between daughter and father.
